SIMM module for Blizzard 1230IV
« on: January 08, 2008, 02:51:30 PM »
Has anyone tried the following 128 MB SIMM from MemoryTen in a Blizzard 1230IV (in standard A1200 case)? http://www.memoryx.net/32mbx326e.html

What I'm wondering is: Does it work? If so, does it seat properly without using a rubber band or other kludge? Can the trapdoor be properly closed with the SIMM installed?

From what I can gather it has the right specs, is 1 inch in height, and is double sided.

Alternatively, do you know anywhere else I can get a 128MB SIMM that is known to work in this card, and at a reasonable price?

I'd like to know, too. I contacted a small computer shop down south in the UK (Clinton Computers) about their 128MB EDO SIMMS, but it turns out that their website is out of date - They said that all they have now is 32MB SIMMS.

I used a plastic zip tie on mine (Purchased via Ebay from The Belgium Amiga Club) pulled just tight enough to hold it in place ... The SIMM is a double-sided one that sticks out a bit more than the recommended specs.

I can't say for sure if you will be able to close the trapdoor using the one you mention in the OP but I'm leaning towards no ...

I will probably just buy one and try, since USD 49.95 is a good price. Lifetime warranty and all. I'll post my results here.

 Prefer those two types:

 http://www.memoryx.net/94g6682.html

and

 http://www.memoryx.net/apl72p128.html

 Those are FPM SIMM, but are totally electrical compatible with any Amiga board (who supports 128Mb banks, of course).

 Maybe they don't sit perfectly in your accelerator. They sit in mine (Microbotics MBX1230XA).

Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

@rkauer

Thanks for the tip. I think I'll go for the Apple one, simply because it looks smaller than the IBM one.
