CSPPC scsi part not working
« on: December 28, 2007, 10:20:05 PM »
I purchased me a used csppc and am testing it now.
Works ok with os4.0 so ppc is ok.
But can not get a scsi drive going.
No matter what I try is deosn't show up.
This while with my other csppc it show up nicely.
So guess scsi part is broken.
Connector on ppc looks a bit worn..I tried to bend the pins a bit inside the connector and sprayed a bit off contactspray onto it.
Still no go.
Are these more common to fail?
Anyone managed to get it repaired at what cost etc...
Still could be usefull I guess with a fastata or something.
Gotta think what to do with it.

Have you pressed ESC during boot to check that not the SCSI ID you have for the harddrive is disabled?

Yes the unit should be enabled.

If you are using an A3000 you may need the INT2 modification?

After upgrading the firmware of my MK3, it stopped recognizing my hard drive. Turns out the newer cybppc.device was a *LOT* more sensitive to SCSI issues. Changed some (non-ID-related) jumpers on the drive and all was well.

So check your jumpers or try a different drive.

The SCSI works without INT2.  It just takes an eternity to boot.

Check the 68K part as it handle the SCSI.
I had a similar problem with my BPPC.
JJ Boulet (amiga center) repaired it.

It is running on an amiga4000.
Cybppc.device are different versions I believe between the two.
Will try some jumpering.
Hardwarewise there isn't much you can do me think.
