How to create music videos for your mobile phone :-D
« on: February 27, 2007, 10:42:28 PM »
Just in case this is of interest to anybody...........

I've been using 'Pinnacle Studio 8' to capture music videos directly from the Sky TV music channels for the last few months and adjusting the quality so that they will play in my Amigas. But I've been wanting to play nice quality videos in my Nokia N70 mobile phone as well. The N70 captures its own video footage in .mp4 so it was a case of finding a simple program that could duplicate the video scale, bitrate and frames per second etc etc.

Anyway, I found this great FREE program called 'Super' last week. You can get it from here:-

http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

You can just duplicate my settings in the screenshot below and drag and drop an AVI or MPEG file  to where it says "DROP A VALID MULTIMEDIA FILE HERE". Then a three and a half minute MPEG2 video of 150MB will convert to a nice .mp4 file of about 7MB. This is barely double the size of an audio only MP3 file of course. You then just need to get it into your phone via Bluetooth or using a card reader  :-)

I'm currently experimenting with increasing the frames/sec and bitrate as I'm not sure if the N70 has an 030, 040 or 060

Why on earth would you want to waste your battery life on watching a music video?

Surely an MP3 is all one needs?

Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

I've used Super with several phones so far. it's a very nice, easy to use program.

One might ask why you even want mp3 on a phone. Again, different strokes.

@ CannonFodder

With video too I can avoid looking at people as well as not listening to them

@ cecilia

Did you find out the ultimate settings for steady playback with best possible picture and sound quality?

@ all

I really like the look of the Nokia N93 with its large keypad and 'DVD-like' video capture for my next phone. Unfortunately it is not out on my network yet. Should I go for a Nokia N95 or wait for the N93?

that depends entirely on the phone. You have to find each settings that will work on the phone you have. there is no Ultimate Settings.

I would suggest doing a search on your phone and find a forum in which this topic is dicussed. HowardForums may be a good place to start but there may be a forum that is ONLY about your phone which is probably better.

I've discovered that it's a good bet others have played around looking for settings and if the answer hasn't already been found, you will get a good start.

also, many folks like to use mplayer and writing out commands instead of using Super's GUI. you may have to interpret what they are talking about for use in Super, but I've done it and it's not hard.
