I've recently attempted to install various hard drives into my A600 without any success. I think the main problem - apart from not remembering how to do it (it's over fifteen years since I last installed a HD on my A1200)- is that I'm not using the proper install software.
Should I be using a dedicated HD installation disk? I've this nagging feeling that I've got such a disk (in the loft somewhere) that came with the 256Mb HD that I bought for my A1200.
The software I've used recently is HDToolBox. However, after scanning through some of the threads within this forum, I believe that I should also be using 'HDPrep' - is this right?
The problems that I experience are that I get an error message saying that L:fastfilesystem (or similar) is missing and the HD partitions don't have a 'default tool'. Can anyone shed any light on this?
I should also add that the disks I'm trying to install are:
30Mb Conner (original drive from the 'other' A600; 130Mb IBM from an old laptop - which incidentally isn't recognised at all by HDToolBox (but is definitely a live specimen); and an 800Mb(ish) Toshiba HD.
Many thanks in advance for any help received.
