Its amazing realy, I mean I have had to clean my PC mouse a good few times now, so to stop al that I got myself a wireless mouse an optical one, much better.
Its a pitty I cant get an optical mouse for the Amiga.

But in comparison to a PS2 PC mouse the Amiga stays does not need to be cleaned any where near as much, and they both have much the same time in use as each other.

I never had good luck.  Back in the early 90s I must have gone through 5 of them.  When I got my A3000, I promptly went and bought a PS/2 adapter and got an optical mouse which seems to be working fine.

So how long have you had your Amiga mouse?
First one : 1988

Do you still use an original Amiga mouse?
Yes ! Original devices for A500 and A1200.
And optical mouses for pcs...

I'm still using the original mouse that came with my A500 in 1988!
I find it much better than the cheapo that came with the 1200.

@Swift240 - there was at least one optical mouse released, I've got a Golden Image 3 button job that I got from ebay.
Trouble is, I think they came with a special mouse pad - it is next to useless with a standard pad! 8-)

Anyone got one working recently?

Compared to modern (pc) optical mice, none of the Amiga mice that I've had (including a Naksha 400dpi) have been particularly good.  All, whilst not failing completely, have developed dodgy buttons and required regular cleaning.  I'd certainly recommend buying a PS2 adapter and a PS2 optical mouse.  Logitech do a nice mouse for about £6 (www.ebuyer.com).  I built an adapter based on the 'PS2M' design - cost about £5, which works extremely well.

@bludger - I've got an optical pen mouse (3-button) which I think was made by Alfa Data (not too sure as it's tucked away 'somewhere'.  This was really good - especially for Deluxe Paint.  This mouse required a special reflective pad too.  Take a look on www.ebuyer.com, they sell mouse pads with gel wrist rests - the grey version (if they still sell it) is actually reflective and whilst this plays havoc with pc optical mice, it may be just what you need for your Golden Image.  I might consider selling my mouse pen if you're interested.

I've had my original A500 mouse since 1989. It still works, but I no longer use it.

I've still got my 1988 Amiga500 mouse. just the sliding pads on the bottom have moved, and the left button nolonger works. probably just dirt in the microswitch.

my A1200 has its original mouse, on the left button is starting to go, so i use a USB scrolly wheel trackball thing mainly. but that prolly wont last like my A500 mouse :)

Most of you will think that's isane but I´m still using an original A3000 "pregnant style" mouse (the two buttons version) on my A4000 .

Yes, it have only 300 (or was it 400?) dpi and yes It have an extremly odd design, but strangely I find it very comfortable and it worked for more than 7 years  without any failure since I got It (It came from a second hand A3000 which I had on those times).
