Fully loaded A4000 for sale -- Trying again.
« on: October 19, 2006, 10:21:18 PM »
I had a thread here a couple of weeks ago offering my A4000 for sale. I had a few people interested, but the offer I accepted fell through, so I'm restarting the process with a fresh thread.

But this time, I'm going to make more of an effort to actually tell you what you're getting and what it costs.

What you'll get:

Hardware:
* A4000 ec030 (with original box)
* Picasso IV card (with original box)
* Cyberstorm 060 card + CyberSCSI card.
* SCSI CD Rom drive
* 170mb IDE HD. OS installed.
* 1gb SCSI drive (unformatted)
* "Miracle" piano keyboard.
* Compaq V55 15" monitor.
* +/-50meg Ram.

Original Software:
* AmigaOS 3.0.
* Amos Professional
* MUI
* Directory Opus (boxed)
* Pagestream 3.0 (boxed plus manuals)
* Aminet Sets 1 - 5.
* Wordworth Office 6
* Wordworth 7
* Devpac
* TurboPrint (inc manuals)
* Geek Gadgets 1.0 (Amiga Developer)
* Amiga Developer 1.1
* Wisedome Amiga World Atlas
* NetConnect v2 & v3
* Amiga Clips (boxed)
* Dr T's Music Mouse (boxed)
* Personal Paint 7 (in a funky CD-tin packaging)
(plus tons of software given away on magazine disks; see below)

Games:
* OnEscapee
* Paul Berkey's Foundation
* Myst (boxed)
* Colonization (boxed)
* Theme Park (boxed)
* Civilization (boxed)
* Marble Madness
* Lemmings 2 (boxed, inc Lemm 1)
* Pinball Fantasies (boxed)
* Worms, Directors Cut (boxed)
* Nick Faldo's Champ Golf (boxed)
* UMS II: Nations At War
* Monkey Island 2 (boxed)
* Caesar (boxed)
* Populus 2 (boxed)
* Elite II - Frontier (manuals but no box)
* Klax

All boxed games have full manuals.

Magazines & Coverdisks:
* 66 Amiga magazines dating from the mid '90s to the early '00s. Mostly Amiga Format, but includes a number of other titles as well.
* 7 Amiga Format "Backstage" subscriber newsletters.
* 67 magazine CDs, which between them include a huge amount of commercial software. (note, the 67 CDs don't necessarily match the 66 magazines)
* 147 Assorted magazine coverdisks (floppies)
* 20 Amiga Format subscribers' disks (floppies)

Books:
* SAS C compiler manuals (unsure where the disks are, tho)
* Amiga ROM Kernel manual: Devices
* Amiga ROM Kernel manual: Libraries
* Amiga ROM Kernel manual: Hardware Ref Manual
* Amiga ROM Kernel manual: UI Style Guide
* Programming the 68000
* Amiga C for Beginners
* Amiga C for Advanced Programmers
* Amiga System Programmer's Guide
* Amiga Machine Language
* AmigaDOS Inside And Out
* Complete Amiga C (with Dice Compiler)

Other stuff:
* Commodore mouse mat
* Amiga stickers
* 2 x Alfa Data 3-button mice.
* 1 x 3 button trackball
* 2 joysticks
* Assorted floppy disks containing anything from random PD programs and demos to source code for my own programs. (yes, I'm even selling that; some has been on Aminet, but most was never released... (or finished!))

You can see a photograph of everything together (except the monitor and the books) by clicking here.

So now you can see what I've got. I'm looking for offers over £500 (GBP). If you live within a reasonable distance of Berkshire, England, arrange for you to pick it up, or something. If you live further away, you'll need to arrange and pay for courier delivery. (I prefer the living close option; couriers are a lot of hassle)

I do need to get rid of this lot, so I don't really want to split it, though I will if necessary. Please contact me, as before, at amiga at spudley.com. (some people tried to PM me through the forum last time, and I almost missed them because the forum didn't notify me of the messages)

Send in your offers!

All the best,

 Spudley.

It will be a good idea to specify the following:

1) The type of Cyberstorm (MK I or II)
2) How much RAM is on the Cyberstorm
3) How much RAM is on the mobo
4) The condition of the battery
5) Whether the PIV is in one piece or not
6) Any manuals available

Hia.

I've edited the original post to include a few things I missed (like all the books).

Answers to specific questions...

Yes, the PIV is in one piece.
The battery isn't in good condition.
The motherboard ram is 16mb+2mb, and there's 32mb on the Cyberstorm, making a total of 50mb.
I think it's a Cyberstorm Mk II.

I have no idea what that is :-D , so I'll assume it hasn't.

Spudley...

Here is a picture of my PIV. Notice the bottom right hand side of the card (ignore the thing with the ribbon cable, that's a Concierto add on). Does your PIV have that bottom right-hand part with the pins?

And here is my Cyberstorm MKII:

http://www.amiga.org/gallery/index.php?n=758

Ignore the fan, stuck on the CPU with double-sided tape. The thing about a MKII (compared to a MKI) is that the memory and CPU are all on one board. It is much more compact than a MKI.

It is very important that you find out whether it is a MKII and whether the PIV has the scandoubler. It will make a big difference in price.

Also, as you have stated that the battery is not in good condition, it would be a good idea to post pics of that, so that potential buyers can get some kind of idea of the expense involved in repairing it.

Okay peoples....

Lets get one thing straight with the Picasso IV (AND LOTS of people make this mistake).

The removable part is *NOT*, I repeat *NOT* the SD/FF.

SD/FF is INTERNAL to the main card, it will be inside the main video encoder chip on the card.  The snap off PCB is such because in the A2000, the GFX slot is located ELSEWHERE on the motherboard, READ not inline to the Zorro..

If the card has been used in an A2000 and subsequently removed, the GRAPHICS SLOT PCB must be connected to the main card by Ribbon cable in an A3000/A4000 (WHICH DOES have the video slot INLINE).

Have I updated you yet ?

It doesn't make a difference. If he doesn't have the part I told him to look for, he doesn't have a SD/FF. Now what do you think is more likely:

1) It has no SD/FF because somebody damaged/removed just the SD/FF components from the board (but didn't remove the part of the board that goes in the video slot).

2) It has no SD/FF because somebody removed the part of the board that goes in the video slot (but didn't damage any SD/FF components on the card).

Do you see what I mean? You can see what the gist of my questions are to Spudley, why complicate matters?

Valid questions, I am merely trying to get people to QUIT referring to that break off connector *AS* the SD/FF, Because it is not.., its the Video/Graphics slot connector, which *IS* needed for the card to operate.

Any chance you would be prepared to break off Pagestream and 1 of those Amiga stickers  :-)

If not, no worries!

Yes, at this point, I am prepared to split things up (up to a point), and I've had a couple of queries for other things too. But I'm not going to start marking separate prices for everything, so if you email me privately with offers for individual items, I'll consider them.

Thank you  :)
