See, this is the part I don't get. That's it means that only gamesn and apps available through WHDLOAD can be mounted in a floppy and run?

To begin with, I have never been able to install WHDLOAD in my A12000. At least for an old rusted user like me, that installation is not so straightforward.
Amiga 1200 fully loaded by Aclii.
AmigaONE X5000 with OS4.1 FE
FPGA Arcade board in miniITX case with AmigaOS3.9 and WB 3.1.
MorphOS 3.9 in Mac Mini G4 1.5GHz, PowerBook & Power Mac G5
Acer Aspire One with AROS Icaros Desktop 2.1.1 &
MiST FPGA Minimig Amiga AGA Workbench 3.9 PFS3 configuration.

WHDLoad is a tool to run floppy-only games from hard disk. It uses "slave" files to create a sandbox environment for a specific game. (These are the heart of what you download whenever you're downloading a WHDLoad-based hard disk installer, along with the install script to rip the disk image). Because of subtle differences between NTSC, PAL, re-released versions, different language versions, etc., slave files must account for these differences as well. Cracked/pirated versions of games introduce yet another variable (and legal issues), and they are generally not supported. There are some exceptions, such as for games that have subsequently been released as freeware.

Being unable to install WHDLoad is a common problem, and 9 times out of 10 the issue is that someone doesn't have the program "Installer" in SYS:Utilities or C:. Grab it and the install should work.

no, there are other ways to mount and run some games and apps. but whdload is actually easiest. provided you got enough RAM.
in the old days, many games lacked 'install to hdd' option. whdload offers 'standard' way of running games from hdd. and many of those slaves/patches allow running KS1.3/AGA fixed/.. games.
iirc, installation is not complex at all. you can do it manually by copying WHDLoad and few other utils to c:
then copy kickstarts in devs:kickstarts/ (i think)
and  (optionall but highly recommended) copy reg key somewhere (iirc, S: )
Better sorry than worry.
