Resoldering the 060- socket apparently did the trick with the dead CSPPC. I actually had a similar problem with another CSPPC a few years ago, it was sent for service to JJ at Amiga Center in france then.

As I understand, there was no problem with the PPC as I had first thought. I didn't ask for more specifics, I was just happy he got it working again.

For the dead CSPPC:
* 060 socket resoldering - 40€
* 68060/50 overclocked to 66Mhz - 65€
* PPC604e/350 overclocked to 367Mhz - 250€

Best thing with his service is he is in constant contact during the whole process, uploading pictures, mails etc so you always know whats happening.

That IS an awesome deal.  Is the 17mhz bump on the PPC that big of a difference?  Let's see some rendering tests or YT vids of Quake (2) running, son!

Not sure if the extra 17Mhz are a bump-, or clock/bus issue. I'll pass this question to Stachu himself...

Apart from the higher framerates in games, I'd say one of the most noticable speedups are from the WarpUp datatypes, WarpDT. Great software, Amiga needs more of this.

Die hard classic user. Guilty of that, so Im still using 3.9 on both the A3000 and the A4000T. Running W7 if I suddenly feel the urge for semi- transparent jelly windows...

Oh no, don't say "guilty".  I think older Amiga OSes are awesome as long as you know the limitations of what you're doing.  

Oh, plus you can run MacOS 9.1 if you have a burning need for anything on that side of the house.

You really should look into running OS4.1 on your box. Thats awesome spec for a classic and running OS4.1 give your machine more value and more fun. If you havent tried Amiga NG you are misssing out.

Leave OS4.x for NG Amigas, it's designed for them, even if it can be a fun trip to use it on a classic for a while...

I vote for getting OS 4.1.  It'll give you an idea of how NG Amigas run, and to be honest OS 3.9 just doesn't stretch your PPC in a way it deserves, imho.
Plus 4.1 for Classic is the only way to run OS 4 and still have access to the AGA chipset.
