One problem I have with the game is having to press the space bar in order to use special abilities! Switching between the joystick and pressing the space bar is quite a hassle!!
Amiga 500 1MB
Amiga 1200; Blizzard 1230 Mk IV 64MB + fpu; Gotek drive; Indivision MK2 AGA

beg, borrow or steal a proper 2 button joystick or pad, and it'll make life SOOOO much easier.

I struggled through on my competition pro and yeah, it sucks :)

I have converted all my old competition pro joysticks to two buttons... :)

Its very simple to do, all you need is some 7 core cable and a 9 pin plug
(most old mice cable's have enough wires, but you can easily get a new length of cable and a nine pin female plug from places like Maplins..)

Wire it up as normal,

IE: Pin 1 for up / Pin 2 for down / Pin 3 for Left / Pin 4 for Right
Pin 6 For Button 1 / Pin 9 For Button 2 & of course Pin 8 for Ground

Works a treat for those few games that require two buttons and is easier (I think) than using the old amiga joypads. :)

Maybe Im the worst person in the world at this, but I finally beat this game.

The alien levels are GRUELLING.  I ended with exactly 0 lives left, though I did have 4 continues unused from picking up diamonds.

Amazing game, and feels so good to finally beat it after so many years

Last time I remember to played it through, I think I had more than 60 lives (or even more?) etc. left. Of course, I spent most of the time finding all those secrets and extra lives. Turrican 3 was dead easy, too :-/
