I know full well direct software support is limited and I know it's limitations. Even still, this is the one piece of hardware I have wanted over any other, ever. Now if I can source a CMD hard drive, I will be set 8-)

Damn right they are hard to get :-( Maurice Randall bought out CMD, but his Click Here Software has been unwilling or unable to fill orders.

The 65816 was used in the SNES but it was only initially 2MHZ and I believe the cpu's are in the cart, not the unit.

Later SNES carts has a 23 or 25MHz cpu.  Find out which games had those and you can rape them.

How does this work in 128 mode?

I have a 128D that powers on but I get no screen.  Anyone want to take it off my hands?  I installed an extr SID chip and have it wired to the RF out connector.  So you can only use a composite cable or the 80col RGB cable for output.

Yes, it was working years ago.  No idea what's wrong.

The SNES was clocked at 3.58MHz for obvious reasons, and the processor is on the motherboard. Some carts did however contain extra logic such as an fpu and other things (see mario kart), it was pretty rare.

Thats the extra processor on some carts, it's not a 65816.

Well, I went and picked up my new system today. 9 hours on the road later, I am officially the proud owner of a SuperCPU 128 :banana:

I picked up a few more bits, a couple I may sell, but mainly bought just for myself.  I had intended to buy him out, but we couldn't agree on a price I guess. This gentleman has quite a lot of equipment, both Commodore 8bit and Amiga. He really doesn't do the eBay thing much, but he would like to sell his goods. I would recommend him if you are looking to pick some stuff up. His prices would be fair to good, but not ridiculously cheap. He does have a lot of good stuff, including some hard to find and rare items. He's old school and he really knows his stuff. As an example. buy a 1541/1571/1581 from him and you will know it has been aligned, professionally tested and cleaned. Amigas? He tests, cleans and changed batteries in all his models, he also isololates the battery in a unique way. Amazing the time and effort he spends for prices probably much better than eBay.

Maybe you were thinking of the Nintendo SA-1 chip.

This did appear in carts and was based on the 65816.  A list of games that use it and further info can be found here
It seems it ran at 10MHz though.

I think they proto-typed a faster chip to keep up with the Playstation but eventually abandoned that and put everything into the N64.  I thought Killer Instinct for the SNES has the fastest chip in a cart...  My memory serves me nothing these days...

This is a common problem. People store away their computers in a dry place filled with (even in) non-anti-static plastic bags together with synthetic clothes hanging around and the combination causes the hardware to build up a massive static load. So the instant you touch it you fry just about every chip on the board. Case closed.

I have one. Together with a CMD HD, an FD2000, a Ramlink and some other goodies for my C128DCR. Yep, it cost me an arm and a leg back in the days, but as prices have only gone up it seems to be a good investment. No, I am not parting with it...  :-)
