I also use a Philips CM8833-II, I did have that same problem myself, so I took the back off to find dry joints areound that area, I used a 25watt soldering iron and made good. Not had a sound problem since.
As a matter of interest I did do the same to the one channel of my other monitor the Commodore 1083S.
