Toad, the FroggerNG GUI.. TEASER!
« on: July 15, 2003, 06:55:15 AM »
Hey, I'm working on a MUI based control panel for Frogger (RxMUI).  Figured I'de give everyone a preview of my work ;-)

Latest screenshots (both skins are available in the archive):

Notes: Buttons showcase artwork by both Jobbo and Meerschaum.  Couldn't have done it without these guys.  Also, the FroggerNG author has been instramental to this effort.  Of coarse, none of this would be possible without the prior work of Alfonso, the author of RxMUI.  Hopefully, I can get this thing through betatesting soon!!!!
Regards,
Targhan

Thanks :)  Maybe I can get another skin or two!  The white version didn't work on my Amithlon system too well (I think it's the png images), but the grey/green skin worked fine.

There are other features, but they are in the menu.  Probably my favorite feature (because I'm wierd) is the fact that there is a "documentation" menu item.  This way, it is easier to reference the keyboard shortcuts and stuff.

Targhan

Cool :-)

It should also work on fast Amigas (amithlon/ppc).  I really doubt froggerng + any gui is a smart thing for anything less than an 060...

Thanks guys ;)  I'm unsure of WHAT the problem is with the white one and os3.9.  It could be a simple datatype issue, or it could be more complicated and related to MUI.

As far as odd shaped skins go, that will depend heavily upon MUI classes I would suppose.  I'm unsure whether or not MorphOS's implimentation of intuition will support that kind of thing or not. The "skinning" system I'm using is VERY simple, a tooltype to point to the buttons directory, and a way to "install" different preconfigured MUI prefs for the program (wouldn't affect other programs).

I would very much like to see Toad be the default gui for FroggerNG, but I doubt it will be included in the archive, since FroggerNG is shareware and there would be a consideration of who created what library and what kind of *ware they are.  I bet it would be possible to have it available as a download from the FroggerNG website, but I doubt it will be included.

Targhan

Thanks guys (Iggy, Realstar).  The actual release should be Sunday.  I have wanted to attatch Toad to the Frogger window from the begginning.  That may be an option in the future, but right now it isn't.  (The frogger window seems to change it's name when playing different movies.  I don't know about other people, but even if I knew exactly how to attatch the windows-- I think I would need a named window!)

Targhan
