I've often wanted to use that term but I didn't think folk would know what it meant on your side of the pond, you'er the first one I've heard use it, glad to know you've got ninnies over there too...

Which phrase, ninnie or twit?
Ninnie is perfectly good English in all English speaking countries.
And twit, while I tend to associate that word with Monty Python, is also perfectly acceptable.
I'm not sure what a spud is.

It a slang word for potato...

but you'll have to figure out what it means when applied to people...
