The Amiga Is A Toy - By Local Government Official...
« on: November 02, 2010, 02:07:25 PM »
Just in the past hour I've had a visit from my Local Governments Dept Council Tax  Inspector. The snidey little toad was here to see if some building work I have done, would put my house into a higher bracket for the payments of my Council Tax.

Anyway, while he was in my home he commented on the two A1200's that I have in bit's just now spread all over my kitchen worktops and floor. His comments were, 'I haven't seen one of those toys in years, my kids used to have one but grew out of them when they went to high school' I pointed out to him that the Amiga was 'not a toy' and began to point out the merits of the Amiga computer.

He then had the cheek to say 'but yes, in this day and age no-one would seriously use one of those let alone call it a computer', at this point I promptly told him to shut his ruddy cakehole do his inspection job and bugger off... :madashell:

Talk about being peed off, reckon the little jobby wil now put me in the higher Council Tax bracket for telling him where to go... :furious:

(hope his poxy laptop he had with him breaks down and he loses all his data... :))

@ hardlink
Thanks but no thanks, we've enough nutters here in Scotland without those loony tunes Tea Party bamsticks being shipped over... :)

@ Vidarh
Communists... bunch of softies that lot are... and a trip to the gulag would be better any day than a trip doon ra water tae Saltcoats...
We scots avoid the doctors like the plague, if you do visit one your usually greeted with the words, 'sorry pal but you've only got three months to live...'
(PS:It's always winter here in Scotland, my granda once told me about this thing called the SUN but I think he was making it up...) :)

@ JJ
Now we Scots generally get on very well with the Welsh, cos we both have one thing in common, we both hate the English (it's a birthrite), but dinnae go n try nickin oor wurds "Sassenach" is a Scottish word... :)

@ marcfirck2112
May the fleas of one thousand camels infest the taxman's trousers for one thousand years (just to be sure)
That's too good for a Taxman, a better punishment for them would be...
May the fleas of a thousand rabid scaby dugs infest every orifice of you and all your descendants, or may you choke on the smell of a thousand drunken Scotsmens jockstraps... :)

@ Kronos
That referee was actually a one eyed German with a swiss passport, who's actual grandfather was Scottish and his Grandmother was Welsh with hint of Irish thrown in... :)

Sorry if I left anyone out but me brains starting to seize up... :)

All this nationalistic talk got me thinking back to the good old days of the Four Nations Tournament. Those were the days, when we would we Scots, Irish & welsh would descend on Wembley for the annual nicking of the the hallowed turf and the borrowing of the English goalposts. :)

That was until the English F.A. chickened out and banned us celts then took the ball and went home saying we're not playing anymore... :(

But as you know by now I'm a bit of dreamer when it comes to the Amiga and most things in life, never give up hope I say. Well looks like one of my remaining dreams may be coming true again, cos it looks like the Four Nations Tournament is coming back in 2011, albeit without the English (Boo... Chickens... Buck, Buck, Buck) :roflmao:

Four Nations Tournament To Return In 2011

It's amazing but I'm actually in this picture from 1977, when we gubbed ra English 2-1 at Wembley... :biglaugh:

Looks like 2011 will be the time to dig out the old Tartan Bunnet, the Ginger Curly wig and the flared jeans with tartan bottoms...

@ Cammy
Naw, I just made sure I took a double dose of me medication before he arrived, otherwise I might be up on a murder charge right now... :)

Yeah, yeah.. I'm Norwegian. You guys don't know what winter is :P

(though apparently I probably have a Scottish slave amongst my viking-age ancestors, according to DNA testing one of my cousins had done, so I guess that explains why I'm a bit of a softie when it comes to the weather)

Eye but you softy Norwegiks dinnae wer a kilt dae ye, try dain rat an see whit happens tae yer dangly bits in winter...

Thats what I love about Amiga.org, I mean where else can a thread go so completely on & off topic yet still be so interesting and fun to read. Reckon that's why I feel right at home here it's a complete madhouse... :)

You can only take the advice of the great Blackadder and say... WIBBLE...

@ save2600
Naw, it was said in a condescending tone of voice with more than a hint of a sneer on the slimy little gits coupon.. (still he's only a Taxman and that's as low as you can get...) :)

@ PanterHZ
I think it's genetic in these isle's while we all claim to hate the English, your right we do jump at slightest opportunity to hate each of our little nations, especially when the weather is good and we've got nothing else to complain about (it's just considered a national pastime in these parts...) :)

Please tell me Franko, is it really true that kilt users have no underwear on?

But let me tell you what a real WINTER is: When I was in the army I was stationed in the northern part of Norway, where we sometimes had to sleep in a tent when there was -20° Celsius (and sometimes even colder) outside. Try to imagine going outside and pulling down the pants in order to do some "private business" in this cold. Oooooh! My dangly bits, I was almost afraid of losing them each time

I have never been so quick in doing what I had to do as I was back then.

Personally I've never worn a kilt, cos with my spindly legs and knoblly knees it wouldn't be a pretty site...

I can only say that the funeral I was at on Monday, there were a few kilt wearers in attendance and as it was such a windy day some of the sights were not very pleasant to behold when the wind blew... :)

Minus 20, I think we achieved that high a temperature back in the summer of 86... :roflmao

@ kolla
Tricky subject the old Shetland (hjaltland) is, let's just say we... erm borrowed them for a wee while and changed the name a wee bit and are taking good care of them... ;)

@ Tone007
Orkney is quite simply the land where the best mature Chedder Cheese in the world come from... (they're allowed to roam free on that windswept little place until they reach full maturity, when they are mercilessly culled, wrapped in cellophane and sent off to the shops for me to buy and eat as cheese on toast...) :)

@ mikrucio
Are you a Taxman, hmm you sound suspiciously like a Taxman, Burn him, Burn the unbeliever I say... ( or failing that just gently prod him with a long pointy stick...) :)

@ JJ
Not even when drunk can either of BBC Albas two viewers understand what is being said, still it's one more viewer than S4C has... :biglaugh:

@ All Across The Pond In The Good Ole U, S of A
C'mon, own up which of you voted for the Tea Party...

Hi,

In Pennsylvania we call people from Ireland Micks, we call Scots what else but Scots, and have a saying, If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck then it must be a Scot, but if it falls like a duck, and quacks like a dog, then it must be a mick.

smerf

:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

(PS:What do you call or say about Pennsylvanians... :) )

Hi,

@ all Scots and Irish,

Been sitting here drinking some Scotish whiskey and Irish whiskey, and do you know that after having 6 glasses of each, I still can't tell which one is better, and I swear to everything that is sacred that the end of the 7th glass of each they both seem to taste the same.

smerf

Now that I can believe...

You've been conned with the Scotch though... only WHISKY comes from Scotland WHISKEY are poor imitations that the micks, sorry Irish sell you... ;)
