Atari version of Duke Nukem 3D
« on: May 25, 2011, 01:08:51 PM »
Hi

Amiga version of Duke Nukem has some problems.

It is slow :( and can't turn off aimin up and down :( that is useles feature wich just slows down game even more :( It is possible shoot enemy wich is not line of sight, Duke 3d is pseudo 3d game so it doesn't care how low or high you aim with your gun.

I belive that Atari Falcon version is more sophisticated? Sources of atari version are here:

http://mikro.naprvyraz.sk/download.htm

Maybe somebody could check sources and say if ít is easy task or not? After that I would know is it realistic task? Could be, because 68060 and it supports both RGP and VGA and sources are C

Please note that Duke Nuken is in topics again :)

Could easily thinkthat Atari version should be easy task to port Amiga.

From site " It was planned to reuse some stuff from Amiga port but the assembler part was quite unoptimized so I decided to use C sources only."

Aiming up and down only matters if target is much lower or upper. As I said shot hits to target even if I don't see it, if it isn't high/low enough.

And I would be nice to be possible turn that feature of.

Duke 3D running 68060 Atari Falcon. He also shot down enemy higher than him, without aiming up

At least it should be possible to disable it.

I asked my really good friend, google did he know where to find it and he told me this:

http://users.neoscientists.org/~dante/

Making another port from atari C sources would be quite much easier task than original/first port from x86 asm sources

I do understand it, but it more fun to play games like this with joypad. In this case it is possible and not even hard, like it would be games like quake
