A Question about 'OS 3.9'
« on: September 09, 2003, 12:02:38 AM »
I have a question or else a problem....

I just bought OS 3.9 from Software Hut.
My disk sais it has a read error.
It seems to me that I've seen other posts
of problems in installing OS 3.9.

The problem is I can't create a boot disk,
I keep getting a read error on the disk. I
have 2 CD Roms and the same error on both
so I doubt its the drives.

The question is do I have a bad disk or am I
doing something else wrong ??
I'm upgrading from OS 3.1.

Hmmm.....
I didn't try a HD disk, I have them, just thought
the boot disk would be a 880. There is no mention
of a 1.76 drive required. I have the HD drive so I'll
try that. I'll also try the disk in my PC.
My Rom drives are a CD/R  & CD/R/W, I don't think
my drives are the problem.

I was going to install over OS 3.1 but the install
prg. said I should make a Emergency Boot disk
first.
It seems odd that they would require a HD drive,
I didn't think they were all that plentiful (hard to get).

I'm going to try the HD drive and see how that works.
I'll let you know.........

(hello Art,, did you get that AmigaBasic going?)

Actually its the CD, after looking at what was
happening..... it apears that the format command
is bad on the CD.   Thats where its hanging up.
I copied the command over to the harddrive but
it doesn't work. The format command on the CD
is atleast a third bigger than the format command
in OS 3.1. Probably because it creates a boot disk.
But it doesn't work so I'll play around with it, see
what happens.
