My A1G4XE setup will be like this (when the mobo arrives)..
« on: March 09, 2003, 03:02:59 PM »
Hello! My A1G4XE system will consist of these equipments when i build it. I am still awaiting my motherboard, but here is just an idea of how my system will be in the end:

800Mhz AmigaOne G4-XE motherboard/CPU-cooler
1GB SDRAM DIMM (2 parts 512MB 133Mhz Apacer, Original Buffered Registered ECC)
2 parts 120GB Western Digital Caviar 8MB Cache Harddrives
Black internal Samsung 16x/48x DVD-ROM EIDE/ATAPI drive
Black internal Samsung 40x/12x/40x CDRW EIDE/ATAPI drive
Black Chieftech Dragon MIDI-tower/360W PSU + 4 cooler fans..
Black Logitech Cordless Desktop Comfort/Optical Mouseman
ATI Radeon 9100 Atlantis 128MB DDR AGP-card
SoundBlaster Live! Digital 5.1 PCI-soundcard/Inspire 6700 Digital 6.1 speakers
19" Hyundai Silver/Black 1600 x 1200 85Hz DynaFlat-X SVGA-monitor
10/100 Ethernet PCI-card

That's all of my equipments for my A1G4XE when i get the motherboard. I also see that ATI will release three new cards, the Radeon 9800-series, Radeon 9600-series and the Radeon 9200-series. When the next version of AmigaOne arrives with Articia P, i may go straight for the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro with 256MB 256-bit DDR-graphic memory, and the 24-bit TerraTec Aureon 7.1 Space!!!! Here we go again!!!

Unless you want to have 2 ethernet sockets, the Ethernet PCI card is useless as the AOne motherboard has a perfect capable 10/100 ethernet chip.:-D

Then i don't need the Ethernet-card, just a cable..That's brilliant! :-)

Hey guys! Why not join Amiga Productions when we get the A1G4XEs ourselves, and start to come up with some amazing ideas for hot new games??!!! That would be perfect! :-D

From the Terra Soft homepage:

"Terra Soft ATX PowerPC Systems

Terra Soft Current and Pending Customers,

"Many of you have enthusiastically and patiently awaited the delivery of MAI Logic's Teron motherboards on which Terra Soft's Boxer ATX systems will be built. We have removed the Teron-based systems from our online Store until further notice in order to reduce further confusion and false expectations. We promise to bring this product to market as soon as possible." --Terra Soft Team"

Nice try, buddy. I you came from a real company, you wouldn't spend time on forums like this. Professional companies never spend time telling bullshit on forums like this one:-). Nice try, but i am not stupid:-) AmigaOne will be a brilliant system when ready. It's underway from Taiwan at this very moment:-). I for once will be proud about my choice.

Well, AmigaOnes are not the same as the Teron boards, as further modifications have been done by Eyetech, but originally AmigaOne is based on the same Teron-technology, yes..But it's only the Teron boards that face problems with delivery now. That doesn't necessarily mean it happens to the AmigaOne..

By the way, AmigaOne is actually underway from Taiwan at the moment, soon ready for shipping after successful beta-testing..When speaking of OS4, it may not be ready until April/May, but Fleecy told me in a mail that they don't want to release half-finished products as most competitors do. Amiga wants to ensure high-quality products as best as possible. I can tell you that when OS4 finally gets out, you will have the hottest and the best PPC-OS yet to date, and i am definitely not kidding!!!

The Terons (MK2) promised by TerraSoft are 100% identical with
those promised by Eyetech.

The same onboard-audio, the same BIOS (U-Boot) the same southbridge
and yes the way the AGP-slot interfers with the 1st PCI is also the same.

To a certain point of view yes, but remember that Eyetech have done their own modifications. Mai only provided the controller chips for these. There will be a new press-release considering the AmigaOne during the next week, and Alan will speak about the AmigaOne and its' future. Don't worry...Trust me..

Uh...

Eyetech just resells the Teron boards supplied by Mai.  They don't build any boards, nor designed any boards, on their own.  it *is* the Teron board from Mai.

It's not quite true. Eyetech did their own modifications to the motherboard. The technology is from Mai Logic, yes. That's true, but Eyetech bought the rights to use the Teron-technology to build AmigaOne-motherboards. Don't forget that. One of the things that happened under the betatesting of AmigaOne-XE mobos in Taiwan, was the intergration of a brand new Firmware. Hyperion will bring up a pressrelease about this shortly...You'll definitely love the features. Also remember that Hyperion allianced with SciTech Software bringing in support of over 170 different graphic systems to AmigaOS! This definitely tells a lot...!

The original design was AmigaOne A1200 which had 6 PCI slots and the bridge-connection, then came the Teron-design. The ORIGINAL Teron-design you see on the Teron-boards. One of the changes were to refusing the AMR-slot on the XE-motherboards and intergration of audio with codecs. See this on the latest XE-pictures. These modifications were done by Eyetech in conjuction with Hyperion, Amiga and Mai...Now you get the picture right...

The word may not be confused, as i carefully read everything Eyetech, Hyperion, Mai and Amiga are doing. I could be a bit wrong, though. But answer me this. Why is Eyetech chosen as the main hardware manufacture for the Amiga to develop AmigaOne? I know for sure that Eyetech will play a key role for future development of new AmigaOne-motherboards...But it's true that Mai Logic did all the work...That does explain the alliance with Eyetech in this..But the last statement was that AmigaOne was successively betatested in Taiwan, and got a brand new Firmware which Hyperion is responsible for..Eyetech may sell the boards, but they are not limiting themselves to sales..I happen to hear that Alan Redhouse of Eyetech has great plans for the future of the AmigaOne...

After reading the different messages, i have learnt that Mai Logic was the one who actually developed the Teron boards, and allianced with Eyetech to let them deliver the motherboards. Eyetech might has told Mai Logic what changes to the motherboards they expected, and Mai Logic may have done the changes themselves. I know it's mostly software fixes that have been done to the motherboards, after branding them AmigaOnes, which Eyetech as i understand got the right to do:-). Mai Logic must have done the modifications we see on the current design of the AmigaOne XE..

I also believe that Mai Logic will make a NEW version of the Teron boards, to test the new Articia P when it's finished..This is what i believe Alan Redhouse is going to tell, because with the long term partnership with Mai Logic, the future of the AmigaOne is secured..

It's too much focus on problems and fustrations of waiting for our PPC-system than instead thinking about how they will be like when we get them, what they will be capable of doing and how well they will do the things we all love. No matter who is doing what. The point is to bring the very best of new Amiga-technology to the Amiga community..

Hope this message will help.. :-)  :-)  :-)
