Ah yes, I remember the eab.abime.net thread.  I also remember running into it right after Cosmos had pulled his patch because some ass goblin decided to turn around and sell it.

I thought it'd be really cool back before I was able to finally land my Cyberstorm MK I, and I have 128mb of ram on that, so even if I did the 3660 mod, I'd lose that, and the speed would be the same, I think.

So price isn't too shabby, but is it even legal to sell this without installation media?  I mean it's basically just old Wintel Hardware with Amithlon installed to a hard drive, that could very easily be damaged during shipping.

Swear in code... reminds me of some of the code comments I've heard of at work... I've recently been buying some things from people on Amibay.  Either A) eBay has insane prices, or B) never have what I'm looking for.  I'm not seeing any A1200 MB on there, though there is a nice A1200 on there right now with 060 etc.

I can see trying to get enough to remain fully compatible, or maybe as the ebb and flow of upgrades go.  For example, I have an A4000D, but as far as upgrades go, it seems the A1200 gets most of them.  But I could still kind of wanting an A500 along with it, for those few programs that just refuse to run on an AGA machine.

For example, I currently have a 1040STf, MegaSTe, TT030 and Falcon030.  Each one of those are compatible/capable in their own way.  Unfortunately only the first and last actually boot to a desktop and the first one has weird vertical lines worth of  pixels missing  Still working on cleaning up whatever mice left in the MegaSTe, and for some odd reason the TT030 just gives me a white screen.

But that's part of the fun, tweaking and fixing the old beasts!

Not sure if you'd consider me a hoarder of Atari things.  Mostly I think it's a somewhat good idea to have a parts machine as well, but the people who just have garages full of things that sit unused....

I'm pretty sure I have one somewhere of it.   But maybe not, the only Atari I have that doesn't have built in basic would be my 800.  I wouldn't mind getting a hold of the Star Raiders controller/pad and cartridge though, loved that game, used to have it, but I'm sure it was lost in the move somewhere

Speaking of old Atari stuff, I've recently obtained a Falcon, and I just found out today that there was more than just CLAB that got the rights to build them, and there is one out there called the Sonovista, which was a black one, and looks fantastic!  Too bad Commodore/ESCOM didn't just sell off the rights for Amiga so other companies could make them at the time.  Then again, Commodore went bankrupt, and Atari just quietly faded away by reverse merging into a hard drive manufacturer of all things...

It is interesting from the perspective now to see how well these two platforms have carried on.

The last one I can kind of see, as it at least has an 060, is a 4000T (which actually are rare, unlike a A3000 zorro board), but that's till probably a bit on the high end.  If these were normal prices for A4000Ds, I should be able to sell mine for 8k, since I have an 060, Radeon, mediator, etc... Right?  anyone want to buy my A4000D for 8k?

I'll 'fess up. The last one was me. In my defense, besides the 4000T that actually was well packed and arrived safely, I got 5 big cases of hardware and software included that so far has all checked out as working. 3 AD516s, 2 Toccatas and 2 Picasso IVs alone made it worthwhile - at least to me.

Of course they say rationalization is a great defense mechanism so what do I know

I believe this was already discussed in this thread, but I think some of the insane prices mentioned were probably due to wife demand.  "Sell your stuff!"  "But nobody wants to pay for it, so I have to keep it...."

So sad, I remember when there was a whole ton of them new for 80 dollars, unfortunately at the time I didn't have a lot of extra income, and I couldn't justify 80 bucks since I already had an A4000.

God, what a jack ass.  I picked up two units when they were going for about $89 each some time ago.  I still have one unopened.  I would never presume to get $500 for it.  Maybe not even $100, honestly.

Ha, I'd consider buying that off you.  I've kind of been wanting one, and for some weird reason I haven't been able to get my A4000D to play CD32 games successfully.  I actually have wanted to get one of the controllers, though I heard the original boomerang was kind of crap.
