IContain announces Amiga branded TVs, cell phones and computers

The specs look a lot more interesting than the ones used by CUSA.

I find that rather odd statement since they haven't released very much tech information on their Amiga series.

And none of their Amiga branded machines are of the all-in-one style... *boggle*

Just because YOU haven't seen it, doesn't mean they are not doing AIO Amigas.  I may not buy one of their All In One Amiga(s) (I'll wait for a big box), but the initial design does look pretty sweet.  Even more so if they act on my suggested changes to it, of course. ;-)

There goes 1/2 of cusa's customers. I can't imagine they would be very happy about another company selling amiga branded computers. I mean after the millions they spent on research and development and all...

IContain is for RTO items.  You don't make your payments, the item stops working.  That is what this is all about.  So I don't see any significant issues with C=USA Amiga line, do you?

No, I don't think it really interferes with CUSA's plans either. Its just dumb. A rent to own tv "protected by Amiga" that shuts off if you miss payments? I doubt we'll even see this technology in the US.

The technology exists, yes, but OnStar uses it to serve the customer, not control them. There's a huge difference between buying something advertised as "our technology lets you disable your stuff if it's stolen!" and "our technology lets us disable your stuff if you don't pay up!", and good freaking luck trying to fool all but the densest of consumers into not seeing the difference.

It sure helps the Repoman in getting the vehicle back if you do not pay up.

Is it still Atom based, or has he moved on to the better AMD Fusion platform?

I'm sure at this late date and the number of mobos they had to preorder it's still atom based.

Custom motherboards - that's a good sign. Not too bad if it is Ion based.

It could be worse, it could be GMA based.  I will continue to hold out hope that as this year progresses, C=USA will look at AMD Fusion as an alternative to Ion2 mobos for the C64x.

Any future AIO keyboard design will likely have a laptop based mobo, which means they can use mobile nVidia GPUs.
They have decided to go Intel only and they'll probably stick to that.

Barry made it clear C=USA is not locked into Intel for the long term.  Yes, Intel/nVidia is the base line for now but beyond that is not written in stone.
