@Whabang

GMail is still beta. The only way you can presently get an account is by invite from an existing user.

I might re-invite myself with the next one, so I can get another chance to mispell my own name :-D

It seems the web interface is making very heavy use of javascript/DHTML. I expect making it work as well as it does (when it is working) across the spectrum of currently popular browsers took some real effort.

No problems in Firefox, btw.

Once you send and receive a few mails, you will get a number of invites to use. Don't worry, you can't miss it once you get  them ;-)

Is gmail the google email system if it is i would avoid it they it scans your email for for certain keywords and delevers adverts on what word it finds. :-(

I can honestly say that so far, the advertising is far less obtrusive than any other free webmail I've used. You get some text only links (like those in normal google search) down the right hand side of the display and thats it. No popups, no banners, no image links.

True the mail is scanned (using the same engine that powers the scans they do whenever you search for anything with google) but the EULA makes it clear that no humans will read your mail (aside from the intended recipients, of course) etc.

A 1000MB of message storage is worth the inconvenience. Hell, you can always get your money back :lol:
