ARGH HELP! Leaking BlizPPC battery???
« on: December 07, 2002, 05:29:25 PM »
I just disassembled my trusty A1200 and found something quite disturbing.

Around the contacts of the battery in the BlizPPC there's some dry yellow residu. If I poke it it crumbles to a sort of dust like stuff. Is this harmfull battery acid or just a left over of the manufacturing process?

-edit-

Upon closer inspection I also found this junk on some soldering points of a transistor on my BVision....

If it is battery acid then how did it get on the BVis? That stuff can't crawl, now can it? Or should I call Sigourney Weaver  :-o .

Yeah it's one of them flat 'button' type batteries. But do batteries normally leak after only 4 years?? Also the Blizz still works good.

How should I clean it? Just spit on it and rub? ;-)

@Guyver: Yeah, it does still work (well it did a month ago when I last fired my A1200 up).

I've finally been able to nick the digicam of my housemate and took some pics:

I hope you can see something on these pics.

@TheGoose: Mine still functions nicely (well, as if PPC stuff ever functions nicely but that's a different story ;-)).

Hmm...so I got wound up cos of nothing... =).

The pics were made with a Nikon Coolpix 885. I think it's a 3 megapixel cam. But apperently Nikon doesn't offer the interfacing software for download =).
