After centuries of beating off various parts of europe at one time or another (and loosing half the time, it has to be said) many brits feel like the EU is simply another way for Europe to rule the UK.
AHEM! it's really also vice versa
You British fought a 100 years for dominance over France.

I think one way of putting it is this, if you ask a dutchman his or her nationality, they may say either dutch or european depending on who is asking. If a brit or a scott or welshman is asked, it will always be british, scottish or welsh respectively every time.

I think you're wrong on that one. Europe is a faraway thingy.

@mdma
I know, but I was more aiming at those who think that way.

Surely you mean the arctic?
(or do you mean 'before the ice on antarctica melts' ?)

That's a joke, x-ray
in the eccentric and likeable humourous way of Blobrana :-)

Speel, if you're passing through Essex (as in Hoek Van Holland - Harwich ferry) then I'll buy you a pint :pint:

Alas, I'm going with the airplane, from Eelde to Aberdeen

You are obviously wrong, I have been to China, in fact there was a long thread on here when I got back.  China in the summer is very nice, sure its a big country, but Beijing is a spectacular capital city and Guilin is one of the prettiest places on earth.  Throw in the Terra Cotta warriors at Xian and some time on the Yangtze and thats a real vacation.   Hong Kong and Shanghai are also always worth a visit.

:roll: firstly, if you took the effort to read my post, you would've noticed this part of the sentence: "considering your opinion about the weather there", so I wanted to point out ONLY about the weather. If I go to the US, and specifically, Florida, well, there'd be nice weather in the summer now wouldn't it? But what does the climate in Florida says about the climate in for instance, Idaho? And then, also you went there in the summer. Now I know summers can be very nice here in NL, but for the rest...
