You want to make an RGB cable. The difference is amazing!!

You just need to find the pin outs for each (I have them around here for the amiga side somewhere if you need them, but not for the monitor).

The RGB port on the Amiga has both digital and Analog Red Green and Blue signals off the 23 pin port.  Use the R,G,B analog signals not the digital ones :)  Also, if you can't find a 23 pin connector, you can just get a 25 pin one and grind off 2 pins from the end of it.  Not pretty, but it works.

Good luck.

Back in my day, we didn\'t have water. We only had Oxygen and Hydrogen, and we\'d just have to shove them together.

Yeah, the digital outs aren't of too much use :)

Have you tried using the analog signals for the cable yet?  Should yield much better results!

I wish SCART had been adopted in the US. Oh welll..

Some of the 1084's also had a round 8 pin din on the back:

Pins:
1: Unused (Status)
2: Red Pin
3: Green Pin
4: Blue Pin
5: Intensity Pin
6: Ground Pin
7: Horizontal Sync Pin
8: Vertical Sync

I hope you mean sick as in sweet right?  You kids and your hip new words :)

A 6 pin connector huh..haven't seen that one.

Is this the pinout you're using:
Pin 1: Green
Pin 2: Horizontal Sync
Pin 3: Ground
Pin 4: Red
Pin 5: Blue
Pin 6: Vertical Sync

All I can think of is to make sure the Hsync, Vsync, and Ground are connected well.  Do you have the ground on the A1200 to just one pin?  If so, maybe try grounding the A1200 side a little better.   Hope that helps as the only other thing I can think of is getting some serious shielding around the floppy drive--maybe asbestos based :-? :-D

One other thing I can think of is to use a shielded cable.  Find an old monitor cable or something similar and cut the ends off and use that.
