What frame rates are you expecting?? I am not sure of the specs on the 5700LE but I have a GeForce FX 5900 Ultra with an AGP 8x motherboard (running an athlon 64), and I have no problems..

Have you thought about overclocking the GeForce chipset with an overclocking utility and also overclocking the CPU? It can be done.. Also what is your AGP bus speed in the bios settings? Can you ramp that up some? I paid $250 a couple years back for my 5900 (which does supposedly have faster memory and bus, however it shouldn't be that much faster..)

You could always go out and buy a DUAL SLI PCI-Express motherboard and be up there with the gods :-)

Geforce FX 5700LE sucks!

I second that.

In my humble opinion, calling it something with "5700" borders on deception, as its specs are closer to that of a Ti4200 (around 250 mhz on the core, 500 mhz for the RAM, 4 pixel pipelines).

I found this in a 5900 fx ultra review..

Quoting the review:

For their e-GeForce FX 5900 Ultra card, eVGA has bumped the core clock frequency to 500MHz. Yes, you read that correctly, 500MHz! As a result, the e-GeForce FX 5900 Ultra matches the fill rate of GeForce FX 5800 Ultra, arguably the 5800's biggest highlight. On top of the higher core clock speed, eVGA boosts the memory clock frequency to 900MHz. This feature nets the e-GeForce FX 5900 Ultra an additional 1.6GB/sec of memory bandwidth.

The review an be found at:

review from hardcore gamer

We have to remember that this series of cards aren't the current ones, and they added a lot of things like shader technologies for better cinematic effects. Nvidia really doesn't play the "we are faster" game with frame rate numbers..

Doom 3 was designed with the latest and greatest to show off the latest and greatest, not to play on the not so latest..   It's easy to complain that your card is running slow because you don't have the latest hardcore hardware. Especially on a game known for setting the benchmark for graphics standards on cards..

What does the 5900 Ultra have to do with anything? I was talking about the 5700LE which seems to represent a dip in the (arguably already underpowered) FX line, that is if you follow the numbering scheme (low is bad, higher is better).

I already know the 5900's are relatively good performers, I use an XT one myself (clocked to about Ultra specs when needed).

The point of bringing this up is someone was saying the entire line sucks. Also, my point was that he could probably overclock to get better performance (or at least acceptable)..

RivaTuner

Overclocking the nvidia with new drivers with page that claims frame rate increases in Doom 3..
