Video slot for A1200??
« on: July 15, 2003, 07:06:29 AM »
Does anybody know of a bus expander that would allow you to get a video slot out of an A1200?

A friend of mine is trying to get a toaster/flyer setup, but he's only got an A1200, and doesn't want to have to buy another Amiga if it can be avoided.

Okay, so I got off my lazy butt and started really looking and I've noticed that several zorro expanders for the A1200 include an inline AGA video slot.

So does anybody know if any of these are fully compatible or know of any issues in getting one to work work with a Video Toaster 4000?

@bloodline
   I'm not sure exactly how detailed of an answer you're looking for so, here's a general wash...

The Amiga 2000, 3000, and 4000 all had an internal video slot that a card could use to intercept the video signal and manipulate it.  This is how we get Amiga only graphics cards, and scan-doublers, and the like without needing external hardware on those machines.

the A1200 of course doesn't have any of those expansion slots on it, and therefore needs the expansion bus extended out to give it Zorro-II slots and (sometimes) a video slot.

you can find a pinout listing of the A4000 video slot here
