A3000t "t" for toast?
« on: October 18, 2009, 08:53:15 PM »
Just got a 3000t and only getting a purple screen {no insert disk animation} Tried ram & chips from a working 3000d but still same result.  Jumpers are all correct and I'm thinking  battery leakage, although the area seems pretty clean.  Anything I should also be looking at?

Well, I re-seated all the zips, same result!  I'm guessing the MObo is just done!  I'm sure the memory, roms and chips are all good.

Voltage is ok, no boards present.. the caplocks key is out.. keyboard flashes quickly when powered up.

Tried leaving machine on for a couple hours as suggested... no change.  Worst case scenario, I have a good parts machine or if by some stroke of luck, I come across a A3000t motherboard looking for a new home!
Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll keep plugging away... I'm quite persistent!

Well I moved the J350 to pins 2-3, no tick... same results.  Checked ROMs and chip orientations everything is as it should be.

Yeah, I tried without scsi connected... the cpu is probably done. (I'm guessing) I have other projects I've been falling behind on. Maybe sometime down the road I'll try getting this machine working again!  Thanks!

Gave that a whirl.. didn't make a difference.  Also had a couple WDC scsi chips I also swapped out.  I noticed around the CPU what looks like residual buildup between the pins, I tried cleaning and blowing it out, but still remains.  Almost looks like the pins may have fused!  Tried another workaround with a G-Force 40 in the the CPU slot (figured this would bypass the 60830 on Mobo) but alas, the same purple screen!!  I'm stating to hate "purple"...

Nah, I had swapped out the Rom's at first (no difference).. dishwasher treatment sounds interesting, do I have to worry about streaking??
