I hate that too, it's so rude and it makes you feel like such a tool as well. :-(

Although I suppose I don't look exactly "respectable," it really offends me when people don't smile back. Particularly older people for some reason. I hope to God I'm not that miserable when I'm older (although it seems like they're doing their best to make that happen.)

m² ? It might depend on your browser and fonts whether that shows up properly.

I wish I had a garden. I have about 4 m² of flagstones and the  old privvy to look out on. :-(

It's not actually "proper" superscript, just a special character.
