Its only truely crazy if someone pays for it.

Personally all my Ebay sales are at reasonable prices.

Most of the hardware I had in the mid-eighties is back up to the original prices.
Even Color Computer 3s, which now bring about $99.95.

Not so crazy price.
Bought an A2000 from someone close to home that had been posted on Ebay.
$45.

Of course, anything I add to it will end up costing me an arm and a leg.

I recently sold one for nearly double that, fortunately they collected it as I wasn't looking forward to shipping it. I kept dreaming about putting a 2091 and a 2630 in it to bring it up to a2500/30 spec, but just couldn't bring myself to pay the silly prices (especially after getting ripped off on amibay for a 2091 that never turned up).

That's the disk controller I'm looking for, but the prices are on the high side (especially when I compare the lower price and much higher performance I have with U320 drives on one NG system).
I missed a chance to get an '040 accelerator a few days ago .

http://www.ebay.com/itm/290853848843?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Not a bad price (about twice what everyone is asking for the 2091).

And I have a 33MHz 68040 I could have used to upgrade that board to at least 30MHz.

LOMBARD does indeed say it all.

Personally, STUPID does it for me.

A prototype with no available software and limited C64 compatibility.

Egads, you people are strange (hey, wait a minute, how much time do I spend on this website?).

If I had a working C65, I'd definitely sell it.

A VXL*30 ram board.  Not at all crazy.  These are super-rare, I know a few VXL*30 owners who need one.  Just wanted to share!  :)

That might actually be worth it.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Can we please get back on topic?

Or should the mods consider closing this particular thread?

Whoa!
Pre-election year nonsense already burbles its way into our forums.
Really guys, health care?
Why not religion again?
Or banning Muslims?

OR ridiculous eBay 'Buy It Now' postings.

This overpaying thing must be catching.
I actually bid on (and won) a Megachip for my Amiga 2000 last night (on eBay).
The fact that I may be buying it from one of you hasn't escaped me.

$127.50 to give my old girl a slight boost.
A very slight boost as its already at ECS specs except for the ability to address 2MB of chipram.

Was it stupid?
Maybe. But...wtf.

As it is, I'm having trouble holding off on purchasing an X5000 (as I already have the money saved) until the P5040 version is available (after all, for our purposes there isn't a real difference between dual and quad core, is there)?

And...if I get that, then there is always Jens' A1200, which is but isn't an Amiga, right? ;)

And even though I own an Altera DE1, a Mist system might be nice....

Hey, at least I'm not the dumb ass with the $13,400 current bid on the C65.

I draw the line at over paying for 8 bit stuff (unless you count me maxed out Atari 130XE).

Frankly, I'm not a Commodore fanatic (just a 68K fanatic), so I don't get the whole 8 bit Commodore thing.

Get your genuine 1980's blown capacitors here! These are from actual...yes ACTUAL BBC Micro computers. Only 99p a pop! (plus 75p p+p)

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Original-Retro-Capacitors-From-acorn-Bbc-Micro-Popped-/162254594429?nav=SEARCH

They're listed 'For parts or not working'. Interesting thought is this...what if your blown capacitor works? Would the purchaser be able to make a 'Item not as described' claim and have their money fully refunded?

Absolutely! If it worked, I'd be highly offended! :hammer:

Now if I can get the Dragon64 I shipped off to be worked on back, I'll be happy.
Recapping something that sold for about $49.95, ah goodness...

Kipper2k has said in a few  threads that he wants one for the CD32. I don't know if the team is thinking of doing one - the CD32 would probably be the smallest audience - but if anyone can convince the team to make one, I wouldn't think anyone could be a more effective advocate than him. A couple of times he's sounded pretty adamant.

He said it wouldn't be that difficult since the expansion connector on the CD32 and the trapdoor expansion on the 1200 are essentially the same other than the physical connector.

Personally I think a CD32 with a Vampire accelerator would be just about ideal. Sure it doesn't have a keyboard built in but connecting one is easy. It's fairly small so easily portable, already has a CD drive built in, AGA with S-video if you didn't want to use RTG for some reason and I think it has the greatest free volume where the Vampire would be so cooling should be less of an issue.

What would be really cool would be if they could do something like the Paravision SX-1 that plugged into the expansion connector and let you plug the FMV cartridge into the SX-1. I know it's only Mpeg1 / VCD so it wouldn't have the video quality of Riva say but it would offload the processing from the Vampire. Maybe? I don't know enough to know if it could work that way but I can't help but think that that would be super exciting :)

As far as I know, you can plug an SX1 and an FMV cartridge in at the same time.
Now find an FMV cartridge.
And adding a Vampire to the CD32 would be no mean feat since the '020 in the CD32 is surface mounted.
The expansion slot might be one way to connect an accelerator, but the SX32 is the only one I know of that does that right now.

Personally, I love my CD32 with SX1, and would welcome something that would speed it up.
With a fast enough cpu, you might not need a full motion video board.

he's got a printer for sale too: only $4200. I've got 4 of these in the attic. Time to buy a new car!

Naw, that's only $16,800 for the car, and don't you want something like a nice Fiat 124 Spyder?
That would require two more printers. :hammer:
