The SID is an analogue device. No FPGA will ever match that as it's a digital device, it'll only ever be an approximation.
Part of the reason the SID sounds so good is because of its limitations and flaws (such as the behaviour of the amplitude change, which is used to create speech) - no digital device will ever quite capture that.
