I was thinking of the 502ci crate Chevy used to do (still might for all I know, lol), there was a big thing about it making 502hp, with a warm cam, highish compression, big valves etc. Running a BB in an '80s F body is a good way to go quick, there's a couple here that run about the same mark with a mild 454 and spray.
Chevy's 502 crate motor makes 502hp on mild compression (to me at least).. about 9.5:1. That is a very streetable, pump gas motor..start it and drive it..no messing with anything, slap on a 850 Holley carb and you're off.
I'm at 10.5:1, Dart Pro 1 325cc (stage 4 ported to 345cc) alum heads, Dart single plane intake (ported also), custom CompCams hyd. roller cam, 1050 dominator carb, 3550# with driver. Next motor is a 598bb for me, same top half, except with a .685 or so hydr. roller cam and again, doin it on 93 octane gas.
Chevy's 572BB is a monster, but $13k is alot of cash also.hehe.
Very cool to talk about cars, even with overseas folks.. there is a guy overseas w/a 3rd gen Camaro, with a 'home built' twin turbo setup..Cool to read about.
