Amiga Trade Center error #80000004
« on: October 12, 2011, 03:39:24 AM »
I don't know what is causing this error. I know this program used to work for me!

I tried downloading a new copy from Aminet. Same result...

I ran Snoopdos (cuz its the shizzle) and the error occurs after loading ATCTrader which is is not really useful info - I know, just listing what I tried.

ACTrader
Program failed (error #8000004).
Wait for disk activity to finish.

I have a 1200 with 030 typhoon 64MB, FastATA MK IV, PCMCIA wifi, MiamiDX...

Any ideas? I have no clue.

thanks

Guru 8000 0004 typically has something to do with memory addressing.  I'd try re-seating all of your boards/components, and re-seating your ram.  In fact, you may just have bad ram...

You could also try removing one component at a time and trying to re-create the error.  If suddenly it doesn't guru on you, you know what piece of hardware was upsetting your Amiga.  :)

The odd thing is that my A1200 seems otherwise stable. I would think other programs would be crashing as well. Right now I have a Blizzard 1260 (with ram) in route to me, so it should be interesting to see if it still happens with that accelerator. The problem is the 1260 has been misrouted by the USPS and I just hope it turns up.

It's a FTP program.

@bbond007
Yea, it could be software or hardware. That's a very generic guru on the Amiga. You might try deleting any settings files and (re)installing the latest MUI drivers from here...

http://lilliput.amiga-projects.net/mui38.htm

Sometimes another installer will install old MUI drivers that cause a crash.

Beyond that, you would probably need to install SegTracker and SmartCrash to get more info on the crash...

http://aminet.net/search?query=SegTracker.lha
http://aminet.net/search?query=smartcrash.lha

I'll try all that and report back what I find.

well so far mui38 fails to install says

COPYLIB: Can't open file " " in line 299

DOS Error type : Unable to locate a file or drawer.

I tried this installer with the same result

http://aminet.net/package/util/misc/Installer-43_3

I'll go look ar like 299 or move on to SegTracker & smartcrash.

ok, finally I used this installer for MUI.

http://aminet.net/package/util/sys/Installer

same GURU :(

thanks.

Any info would be appreciated.

Does the PC say 12? There is no code that should be running near this location. The ATCTrader task took a bad branch to this location. The bad code could very well be in a library called from that task. This looks very much like the bug I encountered in this thread...

http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=59287

Check if you have Libs:xad/XFD and if so delete it. This is installed by AmigaOS 3.9 Unofficial Boing Bags if you have installed them lately. I'm going to tell them to take it out right now.

I increased the font. Only problem is now some of the gibberish is getting cut off... even with overscan.

2 it is, and another time 4A.

Don't have Libs:xad/XFD, but I'm only running ClassicWB ADV with 3.1.

NList.mcc, Listree.mcc, Busy.mcc are in SYS:System/MUI/libs/mui

Is that where they go?

I suppose I could copy my SYS over to an external drive and try this under WinUAE. That would at least say if it is a hardware issue.

Thanks for the help

matthey

Thanks for the suggestions. That gives me a few more things to try.

I'm making a copy of my system now to a CF card. Its going slow because its on a USB. I'll try it with WinUAE.

The MUI came installed with ClassicWB ADV in that location. I just installed over the top.

I have not decided if I should stick with ClassicWB ADVSP and 3.1 or switch to 3.9 when I get my new 060. I did actually buy 3.9 from the Compuquick booth at one of the St. Louis Amiga shows. I can't remember why I never liked it...

I could also switch to samba over FTP. I do like ATC though :)

There's also AmiFTP as well, which also does the job.

http://m68k.aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/AmiFTP

There is obviously something wrong with my software as I had a similar result under UAE. I also notice with the new accelerator the PC = FFFFFFFD6. I tried AmiFTP, not bad. I have been using SimpleFTP now which works well enough.

Unfortunately my Windows7 took another round of updates from Microshaft and now WinUAE won't run anymore at all. What a mess with my windows7 notebook. Last weekend  I went to restart it and it was stuck on the shutting down screen, so I turned it off. It never booted again after that and I thought the HD probably crashed. I put in another HD and it happened to have a fresh copy of Window7 ultimate with all my apps installed. It was a backup I made after redoing my previous laptop. I thought I had lucked out because all I had to do with install a few drivers. And it was way faster than the stock install with all of the Toshiba shovelware. The OS worked a few days but wanted to reactivate but I did not want to do that because the Winblows an OEM (system builder) copy tied to my old notebook which I gave to my mom. My fear is that it would not activate, or worse yet, activate and deactivate my mom. So I tried to switch the key for both my home premium OEM and my upgrade key for ultimate that I purchased. No dice. And now there is the issue of WINUAE not working at all.

Oh. I've gone way off topic, but it is my thread... Lets just say I have bigger fish to fry than ATC ATM :)

I also located my 3.9 CD and I now know where it is. I am thinking of installing it, but right now my Amiga only has 16MB ram because my new accelerator can only take a single-sided SIMM.

Install Linux. ;)

IIRC AmigaKit and Vesalia used to sell single sided simms.

Amigakit has some double sided 128's.

I ended up getting this off ebay. Let you know how it works out. Micron ram used to be really good memory back in they day.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/120644000620?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_500wt_971

Wish I could have found a 128, but at least the 64 will get me back in the game. Actually, it also may be wiser buying the SCSI adapter than spending some huge sum for some obscure SIMM if I want more. I really don't need SCSI as I am happy with my FastATA and eSATA port. I'm just glad you sent the 16mb chip as I would have nothing otherwise.

As far as Linux goes, and I know enough about Linux (was previously employed doing kernel development for a device running 2.4 ARM kernel and used a Linux development workstations all day long for cross-compiling) and the answer is... ummm..... NO...

Linux is fine... Linux may even be at the point that it is user-friendly. I don't know. Just I don't see the point of running it on a gaming notebook. What killer app for Linux takes advantage 8GB ram, 8 hardware threads and a 460 GTX video board? "Dude, watch how fast I can recompile my kernel..."

Also there really is no equivalent of WinUAE under Linux (or OSX).

cheers!
