I have an NTL 600kbs connection here.  First thing to determine is what kind of hub do you have?  If it's just a standard jobbie it may not be upto the job, you'll need a gateway/router that has network address translation (natd) to route packets to and from the PC/Amiga on the network.

This is how I have my set-up:

Cable modem plugged into FreeBSD box (my gateway/router), then this machine has another network card plugged into the network hub along with the other machines on the network.  Configure all the machines on the LAN to use the IP address of the router for the gateway, and also enter NTL's nameservers.

That's basically it.  A friend has a similar set-up but is using a hardware router/gateway instead of another machine.

Hope that helps a little.
