That's what I did.  I started in AROS folder on my disk but all I get is notification of missing files and a dialog.  Unfortunately I cannot quote the info since the whole thing eats out the whole processor so the only possible thing to do is to kill it.

Why no readme file?  Nothing on the webpage either.  Not to mention an installer.  Is this so hard to make one??  This seems no point to donate such stuff since it's irresponsible to release this and waste my time.

Is this the Linux thing or Windows or what?

BTW I'm (for the time being) WinXP Pro SP2 / 1GB

Windows 7 is beta, all the Linux franchise is beta.  But man, you do not release alphas publicly!

This "binary bundle" with the "4Win" only sticker is no more than alpha to me...

Don't use it then until the beta or official release with a readme file. Geesh!!! Looks like someone had too much caffeine.

It simply shouldn't be mentioned as beta!!  Betas get installed on the systems specified, and have bugs.  Alphas might install somewhere, dunno where and ain't sure if they do.

Distinguish these things, please.  Do not call an elephant an ant!  Well, horse maybe.

BTW  I don't drink coffee late evening, if it was because of something, it was whiskey then :-)

Windows-Hosted AROS?? AROS runing inside windows and using windows resources directly, grahpics, filesystem, memory...

I meant aestetically; looks like this Linux thing to me.  Linux philosophy is what I fight all my life, actually because it wastes time and nerves.  As a matter of fact I'm forced to work under Linux (like now), I wanna be productive, I don't wanna be a local administrator, I want to be a user sometimes!

There is no readme, it is early release just so peeps can try it!! and why would you want an installer? Extract and Run!!

I was ironic about the installer.  But try this - extract all text in this very thread and zip it.  I guarantee the sensible readme file wouldn't take more than 20% of it.  So this is simply ignorance to me and treating me like an ***shole.  Shame.

How the hell you think I like to write anything bad about AROS?  Well I don't but I've been honest all my life, alas know it is not easy, especially for some people to face it.  Actually you should have surmised that by downloading this AROS build, all I wanted was to check it out and start using.  As a matter of fact I got really interested with this iMica stuff as well... what are you on about???

Well I wasn't told it's a fire (alpha), instead I was told it is a piece of wood (beta) which turned to be on fire actually when I started playing with it... Got my point now?

That is something I knew DAY ONE I decided to not only be a lurker at AROS-Exec but instead decided to start tossing AROS around. I have had my share of frustration with AROS, but I already knew that when I started playing around with it.

It's free ! People use their spare time on it. AROS get's there in it's own pace. That should be understood the least.

So what???  Free meal for homeless is free, too, not making it any better!  There are things, too, of negative value, like thrash for example but it has nothing to do with attractiveness, does it?  I agree free stuff tends to rule in the price/quality measures but... again, as long as stuff works.

I do like AROS, all the Amiga stuff. I simply do not like being decieved, especially when my time gets wasted.  If you cannot understand this, well, this is the way you see the world, mine differs.

You speak about "ignorance", but I wonder if the ignorance isn't completely on your side ?

Touche!  Can you give ANY bloody argument upholding your statement like this?  Please, do not get personal while discussing stuff like AROS current dev. If this is hard to you, do not bother to discuss further at all.

Do you distinguish alpha from beta???  Are you aware on ANY QA expectations from each?  Please respond because it would simply stop this discussion I'm not gonna continue anyway.

This is what I wanted to hear.  Really, that either I have not the faintest idea about freeware software release, or that a simple txt/html note would do it:

If something is supposed to work and indeed you want it to, you spend your time on making it work.  Instead, I should be rather said to wait a couple of days and try again.

It's not a matter of life or death, it's all about IT manners, that's all.  Well maybe not only?

BTW This discussion got really silly anyway, actually amiga.org forum covers lots of aspects, not necessarily hard core classic hardware expansions!  Thus it is really fun.

I'll keep track on this Win-hosted AROS, eventually I will get it work, that's for sure.
