The only reason to sun 3.1 ROMs and newer OS is to benefit from all of the new (better) routines. If you're going too run old stuff, go all the way...
Now that's just silly.
OS 3.0 can do a whole lot of things that OS 2.0 couldn't, and OS 2.0 can do alot of things 1.x couldn't.
Sure, the newer the OS, the newer the software you can run, but saying 3.0 ROMS are useless doesn't make sense.
That said, I'd like to upgrade my 4000's ROMs from 3.0 to 3.1.
