As far as I remember Sega Master system 1 & 2 pads worked ok on Amiga 500(+)s without any modification.
I remember playing flashback with my Maverick joystick set to a Sega setting and being able to use one of my fire buttons as Space Bar, to draw my pistol and the other was used to jump and climb I think.
