Hiya,
I use an Olympus D360L with my Amiga. I use a serial connection, which is slow, but I have a clockport 'fast' serial port which mitigates this somewhat.
It is a good cheap(ish) camera, in the range you are looking for. I do not have high-specification needs however, so YMMV! All I can say is it is good enough for me. No optical zoom or anything fancy like that, mind you.

For software I use CamControl (bought from Eyetech). No complaints here, does what it sets out to do with minimum fuss.
