Re: Ordering from SoftwareHut (USA)

I've placed several orders with Software Hut and never had a problem.  My last order was for a Cybervision 64-3D Zorro graphics card and everything arrived quickly, well packaged and in full working order.

I've just given up on Amigakit.  I ordered from them once with no problem, but every time I ask a question in the forums I get ignored.  Finally, I sent them an email asking for some product advice to make an order and I've been ignored for a week and a half.  Balls to them, I've ordered some hardware through Vesalia instead (and pre-ordered some too) as they reply quickly and politely to every question I've asked.

I think they've just become my #1 source for Amiga and C64/128 hardware and software.

@Darrin

Sorry to hear that you think we are ignoring you in the forums- this is definately *not* the case.

We cannot spot every question that you raise in the forum- if you have a specific query, please pmail - you will be given a reply.

Well I'm glad to know that I'm just paranoid then (should I be glad about that?).   :-)

The last question I had was sent via your "contact us" on your website almost 2 weeks ago.  It was regarding a hardware solution for writing back C64 data to 5.25" disks from *.d64 files.  I didn't know whether you had a solution to write from a PC or Amiga to either a PC 5.25" FDD using something like a Catweasel or to an actual CBM 1571 drive using a custom cable.  In the end, I ordered a couple of cables from Versalia and pre-ordered the MMC Replay cartridge.

I can't remember what I asked about in the forums.  Probably related to expanding my big-box Amigas.

Cheers for the reply.

Not for long

Does that mean you're going back into business?   ;-)

I cannot recall seeing that email (we were on Christmas/New Year Holidays a fortnight ago though)- I will search through our emails.

Like I said, it was done via your website and you had to type your question into a box and hit "continue".  I'm guessing you came back to work with a hangover and just deleted the backlog in order to sleep it off.

Here's where I went:

I hope it's not a problem with your site.  You may be missing a lot more queries.

You didn't make that trip to the West Coast to collect all  of the C64 stuff, did you?

I've personally talked to them at their office and was allowed to roam around freely in their storeroom to see if there's anything I wanted. How many places that you know of will allow that to happen ?

That would be dangerous for me.  I could spend a hell of a lot of cash that way.   :-D

:roflmao: Ain't that the truth... I've been buying all my toys before my nads are permanently within her purse...

I remember secretly buying a hard drive and accelerator for my A1200 and installing them while my (then) wife was out of the house so that she'd never know.  I ended up getting my ass chewed when my wife overheard me on the telephone telling a friend to do the same thing.  Owch!  I’ll never understand women and how they insist on wasting spare cash on things like furniture and food rather than buying essentials like more RAM and faster processors.    :-)
