I'm guessing that as with the likes of the Nokia N95 your iPhone can make phone calls, send texts, surf the net, play MP3's, play videos, play games, take photos, capture video in DVD-like quality. But what else can it do? Would you advise someone to buy an iPhone instead of the new N95 8GB for example?

@ bloodline
It's still on my 'To do' list to go and have a play with an iPhone.

@ Mel

Glad to see that you are still with us. BTW, you weren't wrong to call them 'in-ear headphones' as I've seen them for sale labelled as exactly that :-)

Well I've had a play with an iPhone and think that is an awesome gadget. I can certainly see why you didn't want to wait till March to get one :-)

Firstly I liked the huge screen of course. My N95's screen is as wide as my N70's is tall, but the iPhone's screen is as wide as my N95's is tall. The touch screen is incredible to use although I found it a bit tricky to hit the right letter when typing. It took at expert at the O2 shop about 5 attempts to type amiga.org properely. After which I showed him A.Org and one of my own posts at this site (as you would :-D)  Internet browsing was fast and looked fantastic on the large screen. I also used its map function and zoomed in to see my own house with my car outside 8-)

I was surprised to learn that you can't Bluetooth to/from your friends phones as the only way to get stuff in and out is with the iTunes sotware. Pity! I was even more surprised to find out that although it has a camera it cannot capture video footage. The music library looked great with all the album sleeves nicely on display to flick through. I couldn't really check out the sound quality in the noisy shop.

I think that the O2 contract itself is a ripoff at £35 for 18 months to get just 200 minutes and 200 texts. Hopefully one day you'll be able to just buy the iPhone and put your own sim in it, but the guy said that this is not planned.

As a gadget I would give the current iPhone at least an 8 out of 10. Yes, I think I would be more than happy to have my N95 in one pocket and an iPhone in the other :pint:

Ive found Nokia phones to be fantastic. I've still got working 3330, 6600, 6680, N70 and now N95 (the best so far of course)

On the other other hand my wife was always been attracted by the "Hello Moto" adverts and had nothing but trouble with them. She couldn't even put a memory card in that Razor thing

But she has now seen the light and got herself an N95 too 8-)

We both like the iPhone but the rediculous cost of the contract and the lack of important functions like being able to bluetooth to each other, 3G and no video recording on the iPhone is the killer for us.

Is it possible to create a playlist for your music videos with the iPhone?

I record music videos directly into my laptop from the Sky music channels and convert them to MPEG-4 for playing in my N95. At 25MB for a 3 minute video the sound and picture quality looks pretty good to me. What I'm not happy about is only being able to play one video and then having to go and choose another one, whereas for MP3's you have a playlist of many. If you can have a playlists for your music videos in the iPhone, I would be even more interested in getting one.

Oh! I can use the option LOOP in the N95 if I want to watch the same video a zillion times

I cant really see why you want that anyway...

Well my music video DVD's play at least 20 without me having to get up and select each one. I want a phone that allows me to be as lazy :-D

That ain't nice you coming here picking on bloodline's gadget with your first post. He gets the crazy idea that you are picking on him. Now if you apologise, like I know you're going to, I'll tell him to forget the whole thing :quickdraw:
