PFS Defrag
« on: January 25, 2003, 04:15:04 AM »
one word HELP!

i went to aminet, and found several defraggers for pfs ,
guess what they work even, but i cant figure out the damn command lines.

the CP!_Pfs2defrag seems to be the only one that actually doesnt freeze,
but it tries to write the fragged stuff onto the locked disk,
and i am so stuck now..

why i want to defrag? , well because the disks are getting plain slow and well i like em to be abit faster.

can someone explain how to use this? , or suggest something?
i havent switched to SFS (on all disks yet due to the disks are big)

thanx in advance.

i am pretty sure i am doing this all wrong...arrgh...

now i tryed Diskvalid...look..

8.System39:> diskvalid games:
checking reserved tree
getting rootblock
checking disk Games
checking .deldir
checking anode tree
checking superblock 0
checking bitmap tree
checking bitmap indexblock 0
checking bitmap indexblock 1
checking bitmap indexblock 2
checking bitmap indexblock 3
checking bitmap indexblock 4
checking bitmap indexblock 5
checking bitmap indexblock 6
checking bitmap indexblock 7
checking bitmap indexblock 8
starting directory tree check
finished directory tree check
checking reserved bitmap
rootblock claims 113508 reserved blocks free
actual number of blocks free is 113507
checking main bitmap
checking anode bitmap
encountered 1 errors

and guess what... now it says PLEASE INSERT GAMES: heh , same stuff here also...
is my setup @%^$#^ ?? (its a real a1260/66/240ppc with os3.9bb2 btw)

is there any way of dooing this?? , the disk work fine, but its dead slow (infact all disks are)
and i kinda wanted to see where the damn error was..

thanx for all the good advice , but there was one that helped me ALOT infact it now works...

i had Volume: Games: name: Games:

now i will try (just tried disk valid) to defrag,

and i know about that copy over thingy (ofcourse) but the reason why i havent done it yet is because of the actual size of the disk and
i wanted to seek an easier option, oh and i aint too sure if the games would work afterwards and i wont install that again (alot of 1+ hour hyperion games etc....heh)

i will let u all know how it goes with cpdefrag later

thanx
