Hey vlab guyYes CF cards will work nicely in amigas.. mostly a1200/4000. The best cards to get seem to be Sandisk. CF cards format just like a real Hd. I have a nice a1200 cf kit I can sell u with preformated hd if you want!Pm for details
If you want to move files, using the pcmcia port(which you can hot plug),get a Cf to Pcmcia adapter and then a cf card.Install CFD.LHA from aminet and FAT95 . the pcmcia adapters are cheap. If you put the card on the ide, then its not hot swappable(can't swap it out with the computer on)
I am using 2-kingston 32GB pro versions in my A4000 for about 3 years now and they work fine,i also have 2 of the regular kingston 4gb ,and those give me trouble. Transcend 2GB 80x cards work ok.sandisk work(beware of china fakes, theres tons on ebay that are fake!)

You can use a null-modem cable between the Amiga and the PC for transferring files ( works great ) OR you can install a network board in your Amiga. Hook the Amiga and PC to a router. Then use Flash FXP to log onto the Amiga. Your PC will be on the left side of the screen and your Amiga will be on the right side of the screen. You can then drag and drop files to either computer. You can also install a high-density disk drive in the Amiga. Format 1.44 MB disks on your PC, then stick those disks into your Amiga's high-density disk drive and copy the files to the disk. Then stick the disks back into your PC and burn to an ISSO 9660 CD-Rom. You can have all of your pictures on CDs (which your Amiga can use). Macintosh computers can also read ISSO 9660 CD-Roms.
