Smurf Rescue was freely downloadable from the author's website, but had to be removed after the supposed copyright holder of The Smurfs threatened to sue him for £2000.  Bastards.    It's all explained on the forums here, just do a forum search for his thread from a month or two back.

That's sad. Not as if it's a booming platform.  And for free as well, not making money.  Does that mean we are not allowed to use the word Smurf?  Perhaps he should have spelt it Smerf.

I think he said he had a total of ~50 downloads.  I played it, it was pretty good!  Wonder if he offered to donate half the proceeds (free) to the copyright holder, if they'd take him up on it?  Haha    I mean really though, there must be some way to make a legit, licensed Smurfs game, right?

They probably would have sued for double the proceeds.
