the 2.5" cable for the A1200
« on: April 22, 2006, 04:46:48 PM »
with the a1200 i acquired there was a hdd - as expected. now, that is connected via an IDE cable (i measured it to be 5CM long - so i dont understand the 2.5" thing lol)

now, if i wanted to also run a cd-drive: i would need a cable with two ways. the question is: how can yuo neatly do this? i have the top of my a1200 as i needed to but how can you get the cable to the outside of the amiga with the top on?

1 - why it is called 2.5"?

2 - CDROM and HDD on a two headed IDE 2.5" cable - ok?

3 - how to neaten things up without leaving the lid off?

thanks guys!

the image above shows: two memory sticks both 4mb each. also, it shows a small piece of hardware with an IDE port, and a POWER port (just as if it were a CD-ROM/HDD for a PC)

1 - what is the IDE/POWER hardware used for

2 - what do i need to attach those memory modules?

324 ;)

APOLLO 1240 ACCELERATOR W/32MB RAM
product code: AMIACC013

hmm, so this is the cheapest here for the a1200. now, this will upgrade from my current '20 to a '40 in terms of proc.

also, it will increase memory to an extra 32Mb? (in that case, what do i do wit the 2*4 mbs?)

well, see i could never ever afford that hardware is all.

i do want memory expansion mainly because a few AGA games require 2+Mb. i am not a heavy graphic designer on the A for instance.

i would get an Accellerator if it were cheaper.

might just seatch on eBay

i have the 3.5" IDE connector - that will allow you to plug in your Amiga HDD - but, i cannot find the drivers and need them.

it looks IDENTICAL to the one on AmigKit - HX IDE K

does someone know where the drivers can be found?

yes, doctorq, i am very aware that this is the stipulation. i AM connecting an A1200 to it TO my PC. it does need drivers because it is showing up as something which is not working in Computer Management. having went further into it it is said that Drivers Are Not Installed.

now, i have used my 2kSP4 partition and XPSP2 partition of windows for both of these and even XPSP2 will not just auto install it.

it requires drivers i feel....
