Ok what you are doing is not going to work with a hub...

You need a DSL/Cable router between the Cable Modem and the hub.  A good suggestion is the Netgear RT31x range.

The reason that the hub is not working is because the NTL Cable Modem latches onto the MAC address of your network card.  It cannot chop and change between two network cards with different MAC addresses attached to a hub.  Putting the router in between introduces just one MAC address in the router and allows the data packets to be sent to the computer that requested them.
