I personally think it's possible to do it all within the HDL software. If the NTSC monitor can handle DCM'ed colour clock.

For any people interested in development I think programming the MCU by one self is a must. Otherwise the MCU firmware can't be fixed to support write operations and hardfile.

Bootloader and firmware won't interfere with eachother?
Or eat up memory that is needed for other stuff..?

A reroute will be neccessary, updated core. Other than that it should be like simple chip swap.
