Power Flyer & Or Software Problem

When I come to install my Power Flyer I hit a Software Failure Guru. 8000 0006 Task 7800 EF78 However before installing the ATA drivers from the floppy if I open the ATA3 prefs on the floppy it shows all my drives!So what is going wrong?Without installing the Power Flyer Workbench 3.1 is stable but without access to the CDROM or the third HDD on my system.Any ideas??

I've previously installed on a straight 3.1 Workbench without any problem.It was only after I could not access the HDD I had workbench on that I replaced the HDD and ended up with this problem.

I've tried reinstalling Workbench 3.1 without problems.It shows up HDD1 with partitions for Workbench & Work and it also shows up HDD2 and its partitions.I can get no further because of the installing of the Power Flyer is still causing the same problems that I outlined in my first post.

While trying to sort out my ongoing Power Flyer problem I found the fan had come away from the chip.What is the  best way of resecuring it back in place?

When I look in the FastATA prefs on the floppy it reads all my drives on both primary and secondry ide.Ever since I've had the floppy this has worked like this.The difference since I changed the HDD is that after installing from the floppy I keep getting the same guru for software failure.Everytime I reinstall from scratch I keep getting the same guru and it refuses to boot.

As far as installing the software I installed it the same as I always have.Just clicked through all the options it gave me without changing any of the destinations it gave me.I'm a newbie to the Amiga so have yet to discover the CLI and how to access the user/startup sequence as yet.

I've just thought if you saved the ATA Prefs after it reads the drives onto the floppy could that be the problem?Because when the ATA Prefs has shown up all the drives there are options to save make resident(to where?)restore and cancel.It also displays my 68040 processor as detected.It also has The names and makes of all the drives other info is info like the Max PIO and the actual PIO of all the drives plus (UP 4GB NO SPLIT or SPLIT)on the primary IDE.There are also standby options available on all the HDDs.

Just tried to reinstall from another floppy and I got a software failure window come up with the following.
     C:Mount
     Program failed (error#80000008).
     Wait for disk activity to finish.
     Suspend                 Reboot
 
If I suspend it goes to a blank  grey screen with the Workbench screen bar across the top,If I reboot I get the Red software failure guru as stated in one of my earlier posts

With the Window opening and giving me the C:Mount software failure I presume that it cant find the CDRom.When I boot with a 3.1 installer disc if I look in prefs with show all files it shows the ATA prefs.When I click on the icon it shows me all the same information as I can view in the prefs on the floppy install disc for Fast ATA.the only thing that I changed from the origional setup was the HDD.Previously I found that the problem of installing Workbench 3.9 was the CDRom which I changed.If its a software problem then how on earth do I get at the startup sequence to check it against the advice offered.As no way can I access it after booting from the 3.1 install disc.Catch 22 situation

It is confusing me I admit.If I install 3.1 Workbench everything is fine.It reads 2HDDs on my primary.If I then insert the floppy disc for Fast ATA and click on it it shows an icon for ATAprefs.This icon when clicked on shows all the drives connected.The problem on installing from the floppy and then rebooting gives me the Software Failure C;Mount Program faied (error ~80000004).Wait for disc activity to finish,Along with two buttons to click on Suspend or reboot.Its odd because ATA prefs sees whatever drives I have or have not got attached to the interface when it is clicked on on the floppy.
     After installing the ATA drivers etc there is no way I can get past that Software Failure window that opens.If I then reboot with the 3.1 install disc it shows only the 2HDDs on the primary.If I click through the partition named Workbench I find in its prefs the FastATA prefs.When I click on that that once again shows all the drives connected to the interface.Trouble is after having booted from the 3.1 install disc I cannot find a way to get at the startup sequence to check what's been installed there.Hope this makes things cleareras to what's gone wrong.It seems like the Fast ATA Prefs is reading the drives fine but the installed software cannot mount the CDRom drive or the third HDD so the computer hangs with that software error.

Ok so if I install the CDRom as Master Slave you reckon without ATA3 being installed it might help.How do I do this as I'm totally clueless!Do I just copy the CD0 icon from storage to devs?What would I type in to the icon information to make it work?

Answer to your last post is no 3.9 is not installed at the moment because the CDRom is not found as its on the secondary IDE.I have actually got 3.1 installed untill I can install 3.9 from the CDRom.Under 3.1 it only sees the primary IDE which has 2HDDs on it at the moment.I hopefully will be able to start dismantling my Amiga tomorrow.It still beats me as to why the ATA3Prefs sees all the 4 drives though the computer will not boot with it installed on the HDD.

OH Well I will just have to resign myself to tearing my Amiga apart. Got to remove the bus board to get at the Power Flyer and the ROM chips.Not looking forward to that at all.
