Does anyone have any further info on this? Could be interesting and would save having to manually hack apart a DTV unit to get other stuff on to it...

Yeah I have some more information: I brought this subject up on the VIC-20 forum DENIAL a while back after seeing it on the Commodore site.  Some of the people on DENIAL know the developers of the original C64DTV (i.e. Jeri and others) and have asked them about this quote on the Commodore website.  Apparently the developers know nothing and have not been contacted by the "new" Commodore to develop such a second generation C64-DTV.

So, until we hear more, this is just vapourware and hype.

I bought a C64DTV and would quite happily have paid double the price or more if the unit had a PS2 port for attaching a PC keyboard, a socket to add a second joystick and an SD card slot so I could add my own games. Oh, and most of all, somewhere to plug a power supply in so I wouldn't have to keep running it on AA batteries.

You are aware that you can easily add the PS2 port for the keyboard, and easily bypass the batteries by soldering on a jack for a power adaptor (same voltage as batteries would supply), right?

The PAL version of the C64DTV does come with 2MBs of flashable built in memory.  Not quite an SD card but pretty good.

Some people have figured out how to hack on a second joystick port.  You'd have to do some web-searching.  I don't know how "hackish" this last mod is.

Now if only they would release a flashable NTSC version of the DTV, I would be satisfied.  Oh, yeah, and if they fixed the serious bug in the NTSC DTV version of Sword of Fargoal, too.
