The early 4000s had a real overheating problem with a couple of little PLCCs (SMD) on the motherboard, underneath the 3640, front of the Kickstart ROMs. They may have not been replaced in yours. Also in a desktop 4000, EVERYTHING runs very hot. The sooner you can get some cooling air onto the '060, the better. A tower is the best solution.
