ENV error in installation
« on: June 25, 2007, 09:49:18 PM »
Hello.

I'm trying to install 3.0 on a fresh IDE HD on this A4000, (yes, I hear your voices saying upgrade you daft bugger! Thats coming soon, but for now, I have a ks3.0 A4000) and I can't begin because an error appears saying "insert ENV", and because there isn't any, the installation quits. The install disk I'm using is one I copied off a mini-cd that has all the OS disks, since my original 3.0 install disk is lost forever.

Just to be sure, do I insert "assign RAM: ENV:RAM" in the SS of the install disk?

Thanks.  :-)

Thanks I'll try that tonight and see.

Wonder why it got left out of the SS? Ah mystery.

I checked, and my 3.0 Install disk has the full SS script.

C:Setpatch >NIL:
C:Version >NIL:
C:AddBuffers >NIL: DF0: 15
FailAt 21

C:MakeDir RAM:T
Copy ENVARC: RAM:ENV QUIET ALL NOREQ

C:Assign >NIL: ENV: RAM:ENV
C:Assign >NIL: T: RAM:T

C:LoadWB
EndCLI >NIL:

Upon booting, when the shell window appears, it has this "cant open ENVARC: for input    Object not found" error message.

You could try that and if you go this route and if there is Env-Archive -drawer somewhere in the os3.0 installer disk, you could add one more line in the s-s so that it copies everything in it to ram:env

C:Makedir RAM:ENV
C:Copy : RAM:ENV ALL
Assign ENV: RAM:ENV

There is an Env-Archive drawer in the disk. I guess I'll have to try this, unless you've got another idea.

Thank Moto, I'll try that, nothing else has worked. Is it required that the words be exactly in lowercase and uppercase as you listed?

For some reason, when I looked in RAM:, T was there, but not ENV.

MOTO! High five! {slap}

That one little line did the trick! You're the bees knees guy! I have a Workbench on the HD, neat as can be (looks a little dull at the moment).
