Have you made a profit with your Amiga?
« on: January 10, 2007, 02:56:47 AM »
Since there have been a lot of threads along the lines of "what games do you play?", "what kind of utilities do you use", etc. I was curious, does your Amiga actually generate some profit or significant income for you? Did you earn more than what you invested in the equipment? Leaving aside obvious people like Jens  :-)  are you someone who programs software, or produces videos or artwork, and have been successful at it? Has there been anything that you have done on the equipment, gotten you some recognition beyond our little community?

I remember, quite a few years back, some guy had a scheme for putting Amigas running Scala (or some such program) in mall kiosks and generating income from the advertising.

Yes. My Amiga generated profit (I currently do not own one), my current Pegasos 2 generates profit too, I hope my newest computer - an Efika, will generate some profit as well.

How does it do that? art? run a web business? desktop?

Hey Plaz, do you have any pictures of your AmiStudio? Can you upload them? You have little resemblance to John Denver.  ;-)

For Amiga it was mainly design of peripherials (Prometheus namely). For Pegasos it was programming (MorphOS Team) and now scientific research.

Wow. Hard core.  :-)

Great. Some nice stories there. Making a living off of such old equipment would seem pretty difficult, but its great if you're doing it!

Anyone else?

Over the years I have probably earned about a thousand quid with my Amigas, unfortunately that comes nowhere close to what I've spent on them

That's pretty good actually. That's a 1000 quid more then I've made with my Amiga's.  :-)

Huh ???

Isn't it redundant to start a thread when the topic has already been brought up?
