You're fed up with that too, huh? If your framerate ever goes FASTER than your monitor's refresh rate, it just causes frame skipping. All the game consoles use VSync, and they look fabulous with graphic chips that are several years old! Why are PC users so hyper about bleep'n frame rates?!

The ability to drive the “tech demo” games at crazy resolutions with all the details turned on.

The best AGP video card for bang for your buck is the
Geforce 6600 GT. check it out. it blows away most video cards, including 9800 pro and others. iv done tests at work myself and i own one. it runs doom3 full frames full detail no slow down whatsoever.

get one. and they are cheap too.

True. Excellent card. Although, I haven't had a chance to try it with Half-Life 2 yet, it does pretty good with Doom 3. Think I got it for just a little over 200 bucks.

Yeah.  It's kinda painful.  Really, the whole GeForce 5xxx series are rather disappointing underachievers.

Like Intel's Itanium; the NV30 is NVIDIA’s own VLIW experiment gone bad i.e. they have issues with writing the JIT complier driver. NV40 uses SIMD/MIMD techniques just like ATI's R300/R400 families.

3DLab's P10 also uses VLIW designed core.
